So… What Is CrossFit, Anyway?

Walk into ORE CrossFit and you might hear barbells clanking, music pumping, and someone enthusiastically encouraging a friend through their final few reps. It might look a little intense at first glance—people sweating, jumping, lifting, cheering—but don’t let that fool you. Underneath the action is something much more simple (and welcoming) than you might expect.

Let’s clear up the mystery. What is CrossFit, really?

It’s Not a Cult—Promise

Yes, CrossFitters talk about it a lot. And yes, they do love their gear (you’ll notice the shoes). But at its core, CrossFit is a way of training that combines a bit of everything—cardio, weightlifting, gymnastics, and everyday movements like squatting, pushing, and pulling.

It’s not about being the fittest person in the room. It’s about becoming a bit fitter than you were yesterday.

Functional Fitness for Real Life

Here’s the deal: CrossFit trains you to be good at life.

Pick up your shopping bags without pulling a muscle? That’s a deadlift. Climb stairs without huffing? Hello, squats and lunges. Keep up with your kids (or grandkids)? That’s your cardio and strength combined.

CrossFit uses functional movements—things we actually do in real life—and builds them into fun, fast-paced workouts called WODs (Workout of the Day). Each one is different, so it’s never boring.

“But I’m Not Fit Enough for CrossFit”

This is the number one thing we hear—and it’s just not true. CrossFit is for everyone. Seriously. At ORE, we have folks in their 20s, 40s, 60s, and everything in between. Some are lifelong athletes, others are starting fresh. Every workout is scaled to suit your ability and comfort level.

Can’t do a push-up? We’ve got a version for you. Never touched a barbell? We’ll teach you step by step. The goal isn’t to keep up with anyone—it’s to show up and do your best.

What Happens in a Class?

Every session at ORE CrossFit is coached. That means someone walks you through the warm-up, explains the workout, and helps you with technique. You’ll never be left wondering what to do.

Here’s what a typical class looks like:

• Warm-Up: Get moving, loosen up, maybe chat with your mates.

• Skill or Strength Work: Learn a new move or build your strength gradually.

• The WOD: The main workout—anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes of hard work (but fun, promise).

• Cool Down: Stretch, breathe, maybe high-five someone.

More Than Just a Workout

The biggest surprise for most people isn’t the workouts—it’s the community. People remember your name. They cheer you on. They notice when you’re not around. At ORE, you’ll find encouragement, friendship, and maybe even a post-WOD coffee buddy.

Ready to Give It a Go?

You don’t have to be fit to start, and you definitely don’t have to go it alone. Just come as you are—curious, a little nervous (that’s normal), and ready to try something new.

CrossFit isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress. And who knows? You might just love it.

Curious to try it for yourself?

We offer a friendly free taster session at ORE CrossFit—no pressure, no expectations, just a chance to see what it’s all about. Whether you’re a total beginner or getting back into fitness, we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Book your spot at here or just pop in and say hello. We’ll be waiting with a smile—and maybe a kettlebell or two.
